Pat De Leo
Pat is a self taught musician from Melbourne who began creating music later in life. It was after his wife was diagnosed with cancer that he found his most precious gift - his talent for writing songs. His daughter came home to care for her mother and with her she bought her guitar. Never having even held a guitar in his hands, he just 'found' the sounds he was looking for by experimenting with the instrument. Almost immediately a songwriter was born - and a very powerful songwriter he is. Despite being an orphan and his difficult early years at an orphanage in Geelong, Victoria, Pat has maintained a happy disposition with a simple outlook on life "there's always someone else worse off than you" he says.
His view of the world is remarkable. Regardless of what life has thrown at him, he is always thinking of others. And that has given him a very real insight into the life of those around him. It is said that the best songwriters are those who have really lived a life; and Pat has certainly done that. There's a lot about the human condition in his songs, all taken from personal experience and first hand observation. His songs talk about humanity in a straight forward, down to earth way. His melodies are uncomplicated but sweet. His subject matter varies from life to death, from loss to love. Always with a direct insight that is both endearing and appealing. Pat is a fine songsmith and his songs stay with you. You'll often find them appearing in the radio station of your mind - often without warning. We hope you enjoy Pat De Leo's unique vocal style and his beautiful songs. We certainly do!
